Modelling and Simulation in Life and Material Sciences

I defended my Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering in 2016 at the University Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona, Spain) under the supervision of Prof. Allan Mackie, with a dissertation on the use of coarse-grained mean-field simulations to study static and dynamic equilibrium properties of surfactant micelles, with great potential in medicine at a nanometric scale; more specifically in drug capture, transport and further release.

In 2017 I joined as a postdoctoral fellow at the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM), in the MSLMS group of Ikerbasque Prof. Elena Akhmatskaya. In collaboration with Dr. Javier Carrasco (CIC-energiGUNE), we are studying diffusion in Li-ion batteries in presence of selected cations by the use of effective techniques to enhance sampling in molecular simulations. My research is also focused on the study of gas diffusion in polymeric membranes, being of interest in separation and capture of contaminants from flue gases processes.
