Simulation of Wave Propagation

BCAM and UPV/EHU Postdoc with "Juan de la Cierva 2013" research grant no. FPDI-2013-17098. My research interests lie broadly in the development of (new) efficient numerical methods based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) for High Performance Computing. Focusing increasingly on real-world problems, I am currently involved in research that requires multidisciplinarity and industry participation, involving a wide range of research areas such as Computational Science and Engineering, Physics, Geophysics, Electromagnetics, and Applied & Numerical Mathematics. The common denominator lies in making efficient and realistic predictions in challenging real-world problems arising in Science and Engineering. These problems include: multiphysics, inverse problems, elastic-acoustic and electromagnetic wave propagation and petroleum-engineering applications. Also for these problems, and in combination with the FEM, I am interested in developing further the Probabilistic Domain Decomposition (PDD) method, a promising technique for solving numerically partial differential equation on massively parallel computers, which I have developed since the beginning of my scientific career.
