Objective:The LangileOK project aims to advance in the development and implementation of the Smart Factory concept in the Basque Country, recognising the fundamental position that factory workers occupy in the production process. Through the research and development of scientific-technological lines in the ICT field by different technology centres and specialised university departments, cross-cutting solutions will be proposed that can be transferred to industry, helping to position the Basque Country in a good position in this field of R&D&I at an international level. The LangileOK project focuses on the Industry 4.0 paradigm, which applies new information and communication technologies to industry and manufacturing, but which also identifies operators as a key player in the technologies related to the fourth industrial revolution. In the context of focusing technological solutions on the operators of manufacturing factories in the Basque Country, four challenges have been identified that the business fabric is already tackling in the present, but which will be even more relevant in the near future: - Flexible production. Operators will increasingly need to have more and more skills in a flexible production context, with constant variability in machines, manufacturing orders, optimal manufacturing configurations or machine maintenance, among other functions. - Empowerment of operators. Related to the previous point, the trend in the sector is aligned with providing tools and granting greater decision-making capabilities to operators. - Knowledge management. Including operators in decision-making requires having a global vision of the people in the production plant, in order to efficiently manage global knowledge and promote the sharing of information. information sharing. - Digital divide. It must be acknowledged that the Basque business fabric is very diverse, but so is the collective but so is the group of its operators. In the midst of the transition to the digital world, there is a risk of fragmenting the Basque fabric, with companies that have been able to adapt their processes and staff to the new underlying technologies on the one hand, and those that have not, on the other.
