El Futuro de la Música en Tiempos de Inteligencia Artificial

​En esta charla de Xavier Serra (UPF), nos explicará cómo la inteligencia artificial está transformando rápidamente nuestra relación con la música. Hoy existen sistemas capaces de generar canciones, imitar voces, crear acompañamientos, recomendar música o analizar enormes colecciones musicales. Estas tecnologías abren posibilidades extraordinarias para la creación, la investigación y el acceso a la cultura, pero al mismo tiempo plantean importantes interrogantes.

¿Puede una máquina ser creativa? ¿Qué ocurre con los derechos de los músicos cuando los sistemas de IA aprenden a partir de sus obras? ¿Cómo podemos distinguir la música creada por personas de la generada artificialmente? ¿Qué impacto tendrá todo ello sobre los músicos, la industria musical y nuestra propia manera de entender la creatividad?

En esta conferencia presentaré de forma accesible cómo se está utilizando actualmente la inteligencia artificial en la música, qué oportunidades ofrece y cuáles son sus principales retos y riesgos. Más allá de visiones excesivamente optimistas o catastrofistas, intentaré situar el debate en una perspectiva histórica, científica y tecnológica, defendiendo la necesidad de desarrollar y utilizar estas tecnologías de una manera responsable, transparente y centrada en las personas.

​In this talk by Xavier Serra (UPF), he will explain how artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming our relationship with music. Today, there are systems capable of generating songs, imitating voices, creating accompaniments, recommending music or analysing vast music collections. These technologies open up extraordinary possibilities for creation, research and access to culture, but at the same time they raise important questions.

Can a machine be creative? What happens to musicians’ rights when AI systems learn from their works? How can we distinguish music created by people from that generated artificially? What impact will all this have on musicians, the music industry and our very understanding of creativity?

In this talk, I will present, in an accessible way, how artificial intelligence is currently being used in music, what opportunities it offers, and what its main challenges and risks are. Moving beyond overly optimistic or alarmist views, I will attempt to place the debate within a historical, scientific and technological perspective, arguing for the need to develop and use these technologies in a responsible, transparent and people-centred manner.
