BCAM and the Department of Electronic Engineering of Tsinghua University (Beijing, China) renew their collaboration agreement in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence

• The renewal reaffirms both institutions’ commitment to fostering the exchange of undergraduate, graduate, and junior/senior researchers, developing joint research and educational initiatives, and organizing conferences, seminars, and other academic activities of mutual interest.

• Yuan Shen, Professor and Chair of the Department of Electronic Engineering at Tsinghua University, visited BCAM on February 23rd to mark the renewal and explore new avenues for collaboration. 

BCAM and the Department of Electronic Engineering of Tsinghua University have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reinforcing a strategic partnership established in 2019 to advance international cooperation in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. 

Tsinghua University is widely recognized as one of the most prestigious higher education institutions in Asia. According to the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2025, Tsinghua has held the number one position among Asian universities for several years, topping the list of over 850 universities across the region based on research excellence, quality of teaching, international outlook, and overall performance. 

The visit of Professor Yuan Shen to BCAM on February 23rd underscored the strength of the relationship between the two institutions. The meeting provided an opportunity to review ongoing collaborations, identify emerging research challenges, and define new joint initiatives in areas of shared scientific interest.

In addition, the agreement promotes the exchange of publications and institutional information, establishes the appointment of coordinators at both institutions to oversee annual activity plans, and sets out principles to regulate intellectual and industrial property arising from joint research activities. 

This strategic alliance enhances BCAM’s international visibility and consolidates its position as a leading research center in applied mathematics, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence, while deepening collaboration with one of the world’s foremost technological universities. 

Through this renewal, both institutions reaffirm their shared commitment to scientific excellence, knowledge transfer, and the training of future generations of researchers within a strong and sustainable global partnership.
