Peter Angerman, former PhD student at BCAM, has been awarded the prestigious Vernon Harrison Award by the British Society of Rheology, which recognises the most distinguished PhD thesis in the field of rheology.

Angerman completed his doctoral research under the co-supervision of Marco Ellero (BCAM) and Bjørnar Sandnes (Swansea University). His work focused on the study of spatiotemporal instabilities in shear-thickening fluids, a topic of high relevance in complex fluid dynamics.

The research combined experimental work carried out within the Complex Fluids Research Group (CoEx) at Swansea University with advanced smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations developed at BCAM, highlighting the strong international collaboration between both institutions.

This award acknowledges the scientific excellence and impact of Peter Angerman’s doctoral research, as well as the role of BCAM in fostering high-level research and training in applied mathematics and computational fluid dynamics.

Congratulations on this achievement, Peter!
