ORE4CITIZENS, the project formed by BCAM, Tecnalia, UPV/EHU, and Euskampus, brings wind energy to families at Ereaga Beach

  • 32 families, accompanied by researchers and volunteers, were able to build their own wind turbines and better understand the challenges of offshore wind power.
  • This activity is part of the various OREgunak events that the project will organize throughout the year.

Ereaga Beach, in Getxo, became a mini wind farm on Saturday, September 14th, thanks to ORE4CITIZENS, the project led by Tecnalia, BCAM, UPV/EHU, and Euskampus.

32 families, accompanied by researchers and volunteers, were able to build their own wind turbines and better understand the challenges of offshore wind power, how wind turbines are installed at sea, why some are fixed and others floating, among many other curiosities.

This activity is part of the various OREgunak events that the project will organize throughout the year with the following objectives:

  • To raise awareness about the effects of climate change on our coast.
  • To show the role of marine renewable energies in the fight against climate change.
  • To highlight the leadership of the Basque industry in this sector on a global level and the opportunity it represents for society and the planet.

ORE4CITIZENS is a MSCA & Citizen action project. The objective of the MSCA and Citizens action is to bring research and researchers closer to the public at large, with a focus notably on families, pupils and students.
