Anton Uranga will defend his thesis on Friday, November 21st
- The defence will take place at Salón de Grados, Faculty of Science and Technology (EHU) at 11:30
Antón Uranga is currently a PhD student supported by a predoctoral IKUR grant funded by the Basque Government. He previously obtained his Master’s degree in Particle Physics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).
His thesis, titled “Quantum Measurement Theory and some of its applications," is supervised by Prof. Dmitri Sokolovski (UPV/EHU) & Prof. Elena Akhmatskaya (BCAM & Ikerbasque). It is scheduled to be defended on Novmeber 21st, 2025, at Salón de Grados, Faculty of Science and Technology (EHU - Leioa) at 11:30 a.m.
On behalf of all members of BCAM, we would like to wish him all the best for the future, both professionally and personally.
Abstract
This dissertation addresses three fundamental problems in quantum theory, with a particular focus on quantum measurement theory. These three problems can be regarded as open questions, as they continue to be the subject of active investigation in contemporary scientific literature. In particular, we focus on timing the moment a quantum transition occurs, examine the tunnelling time problem and address the question of “which way” a particle takes.
