From Theorems to Advanced Manufacturing: A personal experience in the KTU

Abstract

I'm not quite sure when I became part of the Knowledge Transfer Unit (KTU). There was never really a moment when I joined; somehow, I just ended up being part of it.

I started my academic career working on Harmonic Analysis, in a field known as Restriction Theory. Today, I spend most of my time at the Aeronautics Advanced Manufacturing Center (CFAA, acronym in spanish), surrounded by engineers working with big machines who also value mathematics — but perhaps not quite in the same way I did.

In this talk, I will share my experience during my transition to manufacturing, what I do at CFAA, and some of the projects I have worked on. I will also talk about the challenges and opportunities I have encountered, how my research has been funded, and how you may also fund yours if you decide to spend time in person at CFAA.
