BCAM will participate in the International Conference on Machine Learning – ICML 2022
Verónica Álvarez, PhD Student, Prof. Santiago Mazuelas and Jose A. Lozano, Scientific Director of the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics - BCAM will be presenting their paper
The paper Minimax Classification under Concept Drift with Multidimensional Adaptation and Performance Guarantees by Veronica Alvarez, PhD Student at the Machine Learning research line, Prof. Santiago Mazuelas Ramón y Cajal and Ikerbasque Research Fellow, and Prof. Jose A. Lozano Scientific Director of BCAM, will be presented at the Thirty – ninth International Conference on Machine Learning (ICML) 2022. The review process is very competitive, only 1235 papers have been accepted in 2022, and only 3 papers from Spanish institutions will be presenting.
The conference will be held in Baltimore, Maryland (USA) from July 17 to 23. In the paper, the authors propose a learning methodology of adaptive minimax risk classifiers (AMRCs) for supervised classification under concept drift that account for multidimensional time changes and provide tight performance guarantees. The concept drift is common in multiple applications including electricity price prediction, spam mail filtering, and credit card fraud detection.
About the ICML Conference
The International Conference on Machine Learning - ICML is the premier gathering of professionals dedicated to the advancement of the branch of artificial intelligence known as machine learning. ICML is globally renowned for presenting and publishing cutting-edge research on all aspects of machine learning used in closely related areas like artificial intelligence, statistics and data science, as well as important application areas such as machine vision, computational biology, speech recognition, and robotics. Google is often the institution with more accepted papers (more than 100) followed by research centers such as Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with around 60 papers.
